HAPPY NATIONAL ORGASM Day, all ye dirty divils!
We don’t need to tell you how to celebrate it – but do admire these five extremely unusual ways people have experienced orgasms.
5. Exercise
This one is not uncommon amongst women - a study of 530 women by researchers at Indiana University revealed that 124 of them experienced an orgasm during exercises like yoga, biking, weight lifting and running.
Don’t all go running to the gym, now.
4. Getting a haircut
Again, this is not uncommon for people who experience Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), a pleasurable sensation that comes from things like listening to people whispering, massages, or indeed, getting your hair cut.
Many people who experience ASMR get ‘head orgasms’ at the hairdressers. Awks.
3. Yawning
In 1995, some people on a certain anti-depressant reported having the altogether unexpected side-effect of orgasms when they yawned.
One woman went as far to say it cured her depression. Good for her.
2. Brushing their teeth
A 2009 study says that a 41-year-old woman reported having an orgasm as she brushed her teeth – they were so powerful that she lost consciousness for about two minutes afterwards.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t as welcome as it sounds – a botched hysterectomy operation meant that that was the only way the woman could climax. Not fun.
1. Thinking super hard about it
Back in 2010, Lady Gaga claimed she could do it all with her mind:
I don’t know if this is too much, but I can actually mentally give myself an orgasm. You know, sense memory is quite powerful.
But she isn’t the only one – others have also said that they ‘trained themselves’ in mental orgasms, and the idea has been around since the 1970s.
